(This is part 5 of a 6-part series on brands I scoped during Pitti 106. Part 6 will be published soon, so keep an eye out for that!)

People find interest in clothing for all sorts of reasons—its power to communicate style, its ability to imbue one with confidence, its ability to transform one in the eyes of others. For me, so much of my satisfaction of clothing comes from the feel and drape of high-quality textiles. The mesmerizing intricate weave of Oxford cloth, the plush softness of cashmere or the comfortable rumple of linen.

Scaglione caught my eye for their wonderful use of texture and pattern. Pictured above is a knit polo in a comfortable, drape-y silhouette with just the right amount of texture. Their catalog is full of this kind of thing that feels just right for the moment we live in. Yet what draws my interest are the most classic weaves and shapes, which I know will stand the test of time, like this silk round-neck sweater. It’s the sort of piece that can feel a little too basic, yet I have found that those are often the things I reach for time and time again, year after year. Definitely give Scaglione a look.

I’ll admit I sometimes feel guilty for the bi-annual trips to Italy I take solo without my wife or kids. Yes, we take trips as a family…
