Spier & Mackay is a great place to start if you’re just starting out building a wardrobe and have a budget. The sale selection right now is quite good. Here are some selections I’ve made after trawling through their site, not just in the realm of tailoring but also their casual stuff, too.

Blazers and Suits
Tobacco linen suit (single breasted in Spence Bryson’s excellent tobacco linen. They’re one of the OG mills for tobacco linen)
Wheat linen suit (if tobacco feels a bit too rich, wheat is another great choice. This looks like a great shade that’s not too saturated but not too pale, either)
Navy linen suit (I am enjoying my navy linen suit this summer quite a bit. It feels sophisticated but the linen gives it some lived-in sprezz)
DB solaro suit (this is advanced, but so good)
DB pinstripe suit tropical wool suit (also advanced, but so good)
Light brown prince of wales blazer
Olive cotton unstructured blazer (kind of an alternative to a chore jacket but a little dressier. Could also do it in khaki)
Trousers/Pants
High-rise cotton-linen trousers (I love these as a go-to summer alternative to cotton dress pants. They wear cooler, but aren’t as wrinkly as full linen trousers)
High-rise chinos (I feel like Spier & Mackay’s high rise is just a normal rise on me)
Officer’s chinos (I like the flapped back pockets and other details that give these sturdier cotton chinos a little something different. Would be great with a chore coat)
Side-tabbed swim trunks (I am thrilled that zippers on swim trunks is so easy to buy now. Once you have swim shorts with a zipper it’s tough to go back)
Shirts and Polos
Cotton-linen wide-stripe dress shirt (I have a similar one from Proper Cloth and it’s become one of my favorite shirts this summer)
Shirt-collar long-sleeve polo shirt (I bought one in navy and it instantly became my go-to polo shirt. I’d also get black)
High-twist cotton tees (I’m intrigued by these high-twist fabrics that promise to wear cooler and drape nicely. This tee would be a great entry into that world)
Linen-cotton tees (another option for comfortable summer tee)
Rolled-edge linen-cotton sweaters (the linen tunic concept, where it’s like a sweater but there’s no gathered hem or fitted cuff, is awesome)
Linen deep-V “johnny collar” polo (this is a vintage style polo that I’d probably style tucked into a pair of high-rise tailored trousers in linen or cotton/linen)
Outerwear/jackets
Heavy canvas chore coat (this doesn’t feel like it belongs in the spring/summer sale, but chore coats are useful as that non-tailored outer layer that’s functional)

After starting to buy a few sportcoats and jackets on eBay from Suit Supply and Tyrwhitt, I’ve soured on Spier for sportcoats. I think I can find just as nice jackets and they’re with working cuff buttons. Sure I can buy the full canvas, but I don’t think FC is needed, and then I go to the average tailor and of course they can’t/won’t/don’t know how to sew real buttons so what’s the point? They’re going to end up sewing the buttons on fake like if I bought it finished. On the other hand, I like their free hemming service on some trousers which is nice as I have an odd hem length. Also, sometimes they have out of touch care instructions. Like I have a pair of their cotton shorts that says dry clean. Why? But overall, they’re a good brand. They should try to start some kind of US return service, because I bet the US is their biggest customer by far.
