This June’s Pitti was slightly different for me than the past three I’ve been to. While I still did most of what I always do—shooting some street style, photographing the booths, interviewing people I meet along the way—I was also engaged with…
I don’t advocate following fashion trends. My ideal is a trend-proof wardrobe, and the closest you can get to that is by sticking to proportions and silhouettes that are flattering on your body, which is usually neither crazy slim nor wildly loose.
That said there’s something about slim tailored clothing that has bothered me for several years…
I just received a package with four pairs of trousers I'd ordered from Spier & Mackay during their winter sale.
I recorded a video walking through the four pairs (linked below), what makes them great, why I ordered them, and how to wear them.
Throughout you'll hear me pepper little style tips into my explanation…
I stopped by more booths than are covered in this post, but these are the ones where I felt compelled to take a photo, or record a brief video talking to the brand’s representatives, and so I present them here. By no means is this a “best of Pitti 103” post; more of a “I was impressed by the people and products this company had at Pitti 103” post.
Here are my four daily Pitti outfits, the evening outfits I changed into, plus what I wore the weekend after. I’ll dive into how they performed, and what I’d possibly change.
Friday during Pitti is always slow, with vendors being required to hang around til 4pm, but many of them packing up a little earlier than that (because they have to have vacated everything by that evening).
Day 3, Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, of Pitti 103 is in the books. For me I focused on street style, and engaged with some booths at the fair (which I hadn't done as of yet). I'll post the videos/photos from those interactions on my Instagram.
Day 1 of Pitti Uomo 103, Tuesday, Jan. 10. Street style photos, portraits, and evening events including Scarosso party and a party thrown by Plaza Uomo.
After a long delay on my flight overseas Sunday-into-Monday, resulting in a missed connection to Florence, baggage uncertainty and a train trip for the last leg, I arrived at my apartment in Florence for Pitti 103 just in time to put on a dinner jacket and head to the first event of the week: The Sartorial Club's black tie gala and dinner afterward (at Trattoria Za Za).
