No Man Walks Alone dropped what looks to be the final season of Eidos at the shop.
As I’ve written before, once parent company Isaia replaced Eidos’ creative director Antonio Ciongoli with Simon Spurr—drastically altering the aesthetic of the brand—much of what made the brand special to me changed. The patina’d, textured, more classically proportioned tailoring gave way to shinier suits in cuts indistinguishable from something you’d find at Topman (while Mr. Spurr’s professional connections put those clothes on actors in magazine spreads and on the red carpet).
But No Man Walks Alone was a valued client of Isaia’s, and so they gave a special dispensation to continue carrying the brand using what made the old Eidos so great: the unique NMWA jacket cut (characterized by wide lapels, a longer jacket length and open quarters); the high-rise Sal and Lorenzo trousers (the latter featuring double forward pleats), and Antonio’s original field jacket that has proven such a beloved product even he didn’t understand why.
This is likely the final season of the “good Eidos” you will find anywhere. Get it while you can, and while we anxiously await NMWA’s forthcoming house label of tailoring.
My top pick: The cigar linen suit (separates). Link to the jacket. Link to the trousers.
It’s a less saturated shade of “cigar”, as opposed to the rich hue seen on the Spier & Mackay Neapolitan-style garment I posted the other day.
