I got to meet the awesome Miranda at Haymakers & Co. in Nashville; we geeked out over eidosnapoli for like two hours.
The shop is the child of nextdoor J.Michaels Clothiers (which focuses in MTM programs for brands like Oxxford, Southwick, Polo and others); Miranda explained to me how she had worked there for 11 years, then pitched the idea to its owners of a shop catering to a younger crowd.
Over her years at J.Michaels (“I worked literally every job there except accounting”, she said), she’d worked for a time as buyer for the shop and had run into many different brands that were doing amazing things, but which just wouldn’t fit in with the aesthetic and clientele J.Michaels specialized in serving.
The opportunity arose to buy the building nextdoor to J.Michaels, and suddenly her vision started to become a reality. She had already seen what Eidos was doing and knew she wanted to sell it, while Haymakers was still just an idea without a building or even a name. Thankfully she was able to draw on the clout of J.Michaels, which was a known quantity, to secure the ability to sell Eidos.
The shop sells many other brands, of course—I appreciated being able to grab a washed sportcoat from LBM1911, try on some Hertling trousers, put those together with an OCBD from Gitman Vintage, and ground it all with some Indy boots or whatever. But it was Eidos I had come to see, and it was Eidos I saw.
They do made-to-measure with Eidos and she’s hoping to do a trunk show this fall; whether they will be able to or not is unknown as of now. I asked her not to schedule it during my upcoming trip to Italy, though she made no promises. 😃
