I just received a package with four pairs of trousers I’d ordered from Spier & Mackay during their winter sale.
I recorded a video walking through the four pairs (linked below), what makes them great, why I ordered them, and how to wear them.
Throughout you’ll hear me pepper little style tips into my explanation. I also reference articles I’ve published before, such as:
Why poplin is my favorite shirt fabric
Using color and contrast to dress better
Why darker tonality in dress is better
Here are the four pairs of trousers:
H. Minnis Light Brown Flannel, High Rise Single Pleat
VBC Light Brown (Oatmeal, I’d call it), Normal Rise Flat Front, Side Tabs
Lanificio di Pray Medium Brown Donegal, High Rise Pleat
Emerald Sharkskin, Normal Rise with Side Tabs
And here is the video:
Lovely video and great information. Very slightly off topic, but do you have experience or advice with S&M’s MTO trouser service? Their RTW contemporary fit is close but not perfect for me so I’m considering a first foray into having pants made.
I don’t have personal experience with it but have been impressed by the MTO results I’ve seen from those who have done jackets/suits. I see no reason not to give it a shot if the adjustments you want to make are fairly straightforward /simple (I.e. I’d confidently increase the rise or widen a leg opening but if there’s something needed in the crotch I’d hesitate to attempt to alleviate that myself using the website tools).
