I love navy. It’s my favorite menswear color because it is flattering in the same way black is (dark and slimming), it’s beautiful, it complements and contrasts perfectly with shades of brown leather on your shoes and belts, and different shades of navy can be paired fairly easily.
So it’s a struggle to not pick the navy accessory when I’m making a purchase. But I overcame that impulse recently and picked up a tan Drake’s scarf in a lightweight wool on super discount at a retailer going out of business. And guess what—it’s amazing. It goes with everything. Wears perfectly with a navy suit or jacket; but it also pairs well with dark brown jackets (tweed or otherwise); it adds some warmth to gray outfits; it complements light blue shirts really well, but also works equally well with white ones.
That’s all I wanted to say for now—no big, long post; just a simple exhortation: go for a neutral accessory and you can thank me later.
