After doing some soul searching on what style of underwear I prefer, I landed in the realm of boxer-briefs. Boxers, particularly cotton ones, bunch up and offer zero support. Briefs have a little too much support. And so that leaves boxer briefs. But getting them right is tough.
But I’m happy to report I found some that I love enough to buy again a year after first getting some and recommend. Calvin Klein’s boxer brief in modal/elastane. Nordstrom has them on sale for $45/3 pairs. I prefer the boxer brief, not the trunk (which has too short of an inseam). I wear size 36 trousers and sized up to XL—the size L I tried first were too tight around the leg.
I landed on modal because it’s super soft, it’s not a petroleum-based fiber, and it doesn’t stink like, say, nylon or even wool (I tried Smartwool boxer briefs and it’s a no from me, dawg).
Go buy them from Nordstrom now!
