My Picks From Spier & Mackay’s Canada Day Sale

While us in the States gear up for Independence Day, our friends to the north have their own holiday—Canada Day. Which holiday wins isn’t necessarily what’s important, but in the end it’s how many good sales we can benefit from, so with both holidays landing in the same general time frame, the winner is all of us.

Spier & Mackay makes good, entry-level tailored clothing, but also a whole host of casual stuff that guys who like tailoring should find right in their wheelhouse. Rick their founder likes to push the envelope with new textiles and silhouettes, too, so this season I’m seeing some interesting new fabrics. Unfortunately their product photography when it comes to models is extremely, extremely bad. But stick with the product photos themselves and you should see enough detail to know what you’re getting into.

Here are some picks from the Canada Day Sale at Spier & Mackay that I’d be excited about.

Tailoring

Emerald check wool/silk/linen neapolitan cut sportcoat

Green herringbone wool/linen Neapolitan sportcoat

Brown gun check silk-wool Neapolitan sportcoat

Oatmeal silk twill Neapolitan sportcoat

Brown POW check Neapolitan sportcoat

Overshirts

Cream seersucker overshirt

Olive heavy canvas chore coat (heavy canvas has a great drape and ages really cool)

Knitwear and tees

Breton stripe sweater

Linen-cotton vintage-style polo (this is the kind of thing guys would be wearing with very high rise, wider trousers and, like, huaraches)

High-twist cotton tee (one of those pushing-the-envelope developments I mentioned)

Linen cardigan

Long-sleeve linen-cotton tee (this would be a great layering piece under any outer layer, but also cool on its own on a beach or pool day)

Short-sleeve linen cotton vintage-style tee

I Answer Pitti Questions From My Insta Followers

I did a "ask me anything about my Florence and Milan" question sticker on IG last week, and present to you now my responses. A lot of folks wanted to know about…
