The Bulova Lunar Pilot is an awesome watch. It has a unique story of being the only non-Omega watch to actually be on the moon. Bulova has announced a limited edition of the watch in a two-tone configuration to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo XV mission in 1971 where the prototype Bulova submitted for space travel, somehow in the possession of astronaut Dave Scott, became the only non-Omega watch to be worn on the moon.
While the Speedmaster Professional is the true moon watch—with the coolest, most iconic design of any chronograph in my opinion—the Bulova is similar enough to scratch the itch while you save up for the real deal. At least, that’s what I’m doing.
Scope out the limited edition Archive series Bulova Lunar Pilot 50th anniversary here. It’s made of grade 5 titanium with “gold tone” details (read: not real gold) and a gray dial. Pre-order now with delivery in October.
Or buy the normal Lunar Pilot, which comes in two basic versions: on a steel bracelet with the modern Bulova wordmark and date window, with a bead blasted case | or a no-date version, with vintage Bulova word mark and a polished case.
