I remarked to a coworker yesterday who asked about my trip to Pitti that my normal way of dressing in daily life doesn’t stand out whatsoever there. Even when I myself am taking street style photos wonder if I’d take a photo of someone dressed like me amongst the crowds.
But that’s not the goal for me. My goal is to simply dress well in my own style, and sure I go a little extra since I’m at Pitti, but still within the bounds of my normal schtick.
I don’t have a clear-cut day-by-day breakdown since my luggage was delayed by a day, and also because I brought along not only my own clothing but also the clothing Atelier Munro made for me to wear for the photo shoots we were doing. I also wasn’t at the Fortezza where I could find a friend to take my photo as much. But read on for the gist, with links to the same or similar clothes.

Day 1, Tuesday—Dirty travel clothes and a linen suit
Upon landing I only had the clothes on my back. That didn’t stop me from heading straight to Pitti the next morning to begin working. The outfit was simple: Navy polo shirt, white super-stretchy-jeans, and the Astorflex Greenflex desert boots (with Superfeet insoles!).
Once we got our luggage, I changed into the tobacco linen suit Atelier Munro had made me for the media campaign we’re doing together, which I wore to the evening events that day. The fabric is a Libeco Belgian linen from Munro’s upcoming SS24 collection, so unfortunately I can’t link to it now. The shirt is a blue-stripe shirt from Munro. The shoes are TLB Mallorca’s Artista penny loafers in dark brown suede.

Day 2, Wednesday—Navy blazer and sky blue chinos
Sadly nobody got any photos of this entire outfit. It was a dark navy Mockleno blazer from Cavour, worn with a tan linen/tencel stripe shirt, worn with sky blue chinos from Atelier Munro. I wore the dark brown suede loafers again, though I changed into my desert boots to walk through the rain (and to ease the pain from walking all day everywhere) for dinner.

Day 3, Thursday—Pale gray-ish houndstooth jacket and blue textured trousers + cream dinner jacket for the evening
This is another Atelier Munro jacket, made in a wool/silk blend Loro Piana cloth, again a swatch from the upcoming SS24 collection. It’s a houndstooth in a gray-ish color that’s tough to pin down. I wore it with a white cotton-linen blend shirt and wool/silk/linen textured trousers, both also from Munro. The pants are a Loro Piana wool/silk/linen fabric that Munro calls “storm blue,” and lists as swatch “MS0687.”

Day 4, Friday—Return of the linen suit
Friday during Pitti is notoriously slow—many have left Florence for Milan, for fashion week there. The vendors are required to stay set up but most are tearing down their displays by noon. The crowds are extremely thin. Nonetheless, I chose to go full suit and tie that day, wearing the Munro tobacco linen suit.

Evening 3—Dinner jacket
When at Pitti, it’s fun to bring a dinner jacket to wear at some of the evening events. Why not? My cream dinner jacket is from ProperCloth in a wool-linen blend, so it’s particularly summer-appropriate, and I often style is casually with no tie and suede black Belgian loafers.

It will be interesting to see more images of your sponsored Munro clothing. The fit looks a bit off in these photos. Jackets too long, little shape to the body, overdone puffy spalla camicia, slightly odd leg line to the pants , etc.
Overall impression is super good. The grinze on the linen is a little much for me, but great on the other jackets; not sure if they went a little over the top on the linen or if it’s just the way the linen behaves. The fit is excellent, particularly in the shoulders and armholes and chest. The hand finishing is great. A few people who saw the linen suit IRL said “who made this, it’s obviously Neapolitan?” For a first commission, where we made 4 head-to-toe outfits with just one fitting and some measuring after the fact, everything turned out pretty spot-on.
I am going to have them shorten the jacket by 1cm for any jackets moving forward, and ease out the jacket waist by 1.5cm on the half measurement (either I gained a bit of weight or I was optimistic when I measured other jackets I own to help guide them). The length is a matter of taste—I think it’s great on the full suit, but feels a touch long on an odd jacket. As it is with the jackets already made, I’m comfortable with it.
For the trousers, I based the measurements I gave them on a pair of Ambrosi trousers, which a friend of mine had given me because he no longer wore them, and which I then had altered to fit. They have a high rise and straight, tapered cut, but are comfortable due to a relatively generous knee. Perhaps the odd leg line you’re referring to is from the blue pair, which are such a super lightweight fabric that they don’t drape super well. A friend of mine who sells MTM clothing for a living remarked of the linen suit trousers that he felt they had an excellent cut.
I’m not giving a full blown review, but the product is great for the price and I have no qualms recommending it or being a customer myself moving forward. I can’t compare to SuitSupply’s MTM, which would be the closest competitor (and indeed Munro used to share the same factory as SS, but there was some breakup there a few years ago prompting a move to an Indian factory for Munro). But compared to every Italian brand and Chinese-made product in this price point, I’m impressed.
Hope that answers some of your questions.
