If flannel trousers are the staple choice in winter, then my choice for summer is cotton-linen. It’s better than pure linen, in my book, because the cotton grants a little extra give in the fabric, and keeps them from wrinkling as much as pure linen. And it’s better than pure cotton by being a little more breathable. Of course compared to high-twist wool trousers, they aren’t as professional in their appearance, so that’s a consideration.
Spier & Mackay is running a promotion this weekend for 20% off their cotton-linen trousers (and their pure linen ones) with code PANTS20. It ends Monday, June 21 at midnight EDT.
I love the off-white pair I have, but I’ve found this year that the faded navy pair I have are my most-worn. They look good with darker navy jackets, but also my green jacket and my new tan jacket. I’m considering picking up the dark brown pair and maybe olive during this sale.

Thanks for the heads up! Do you prefer the “slim” or “contemporary” fit for these pants?
I prefer contemporary fit for the higher rise, mainly. The silhouette is a bit chunky in the knee, but that makes them comfortable to wear.
Thanks so much! Love your posts!
